Mori Girl, Gyaru, AND Lolita?!

I'm in love with them all, so what is there a lolita to do with such an empty wallet? Fear not little hopefuls, I'm sure every one of us are inspired easily by up-and-coming fashions out there. Here's a way that we can incorporate main points in the other fashions, and make it work with us!

First off we can start with a trend that has been around since the early 90's. Gal fashion! As far as my knowledge goes on Gal fashion it can be summed up to 3 key points; Hair, Make-up, and Heels.

Hair:

Gals like to keep it blonde. Soft waves or curls are heavily in style now, with a bang that stops just at the brow.

Make Up

This is definitely the key point in every aspect of Gal fashion. If you're make-up isn't on point, then I'm sorry to say that you're doin' it wrong!

Gal "make" is mainly focused on the eyes, accentuating them to look BIG.

Notice how this gal uses falsies on both the upper and lower lid. Circle lenses to make the outer edge of the pupil and iris larger, and subtle uses of white pencil against black to further enhance the enlargement.

Pink accents on the lip and cheeks add femininity to a fresh face.

Heels

Shooooooooooooooooooooooooeeeeessssssssss.

I dont think I have to say anything else. Other than a lot of leg, and a nice pair of shoes goes a long way in this fashion.

Mori Girl

"Forest" Girl. Those who dress in this style keep it au natural. Garments are usually light in color (Mostly whites, off-whites, creams, with hints of color here and there) long and loose, knitted, with choices in fabric that seem as though they were dwelling in the forest for years.

You can immediately tell the difference in style between the two. These girls are a lot more modest, the colors arent as bold, and everything worn is soft and muted, but still heavily detailed with the smallest bits of lace and accent in every garment. Layering is a must here too!

Making it Lolita

When incorporating the main focuses used in the fashions used above, we have to look at the key elements. Take this Jumperskirt for example:

The light colors and subtle details and pattern is perfect to compliment the Mori Girl style while still keeping the all important bell shape of lolita.

Taking this coordinate, and making sure you use the key points in Gal make and hair, for example, my favorite Gal model Kumicky:

This hairstyle can definitely work for all three fashions! And look at kumicky's make-up. It's suble but her eyes pop! And her lashes flick out like little butterfly wings. Just slap a pair of lacy white tights on this coordinate and it can be a perfect hybrid!

I hope this post helps and inspires others to try out new things! Remember following the normal is boring, go out there and explore other fashions, all the while playing around with you own.

Thank you!

Gleeking Out - Taking style tips from Emma Pillsbury and making it Lolita!

Recently on this oddly warm winter break down here in Florida, I took it upon myself to get into the phenomena of "Glee". I find it peculiar that I didnt watch it on my own will before. First of all, I love singing. I wanted to be a star and singer at a young age but never pursued it out of fear that I'd be a failure and eventually humiliate myself. (Come to find that I regret this decision on a daily basis) But thats besides the point! Glee has found a way to dig into my love of singing AND fashion in a way no show has done so before. So in spite of my lack of will power and sense of failure, I'm dedicating this post to a newly born fashion idol of mine; Emma Pillsbury.

Her cute, quirky, and clean sense of style sets off a whirlwind of inspiration that I just wan to sink my teeth into !

Color

What gets me the most is the fabulous use of color in each and every outfit. Emma's character is known to be mysophobic, so every piece of her outfit is simple, crisp, using clean lines. Oh and cardigans. Cant forget about the Cardigans. Seeing her style completely reminds me of some of the pieces seen in Jane Marple, Emily Temple Cute, and even Innocent World Pieces can come into play.

Now the obvious difference as we can see is that Emma chooses subtle A-line to Pencil skirts for her attire, whereas in lolita we have to work with A-line to Full Circle skirts.

Notice this Jumperskirt and Blouse combo. The brightly colored yellow blouse goes well with this animal printed cream dress. The balance of colors and the simplicity of the dress gives it a nice "Emma" touch. Skip the hair accessories, and style it up with a nice pair Emma's signature J.Crew Penelope Mary Janes:

Florals

Emma's use of florals comes in tiny bursts. Nothing all over, but still balancing that with a solid color.

Jane Marples recent winter collection shows a couple of pieces that are perfect for mixing and matching. Take the Cardigan on the left, and match it up with a simple sweet pink or cream skirt:

Since we're incorporating lolita, we can play with shoe types too! He's a cute variety from ETC:

Cute!

Coats

Even with coats emma likes to keep it clean but unique!

Remember not to be afraid to play with bold colors~<3

Here's some Lolita examples:

Cardigans

There isnt a photo where Emma is seen without one! I swear if we opened her closet she'd have a section dedicated to them!

"Oops!"

In Lolita it would also be hard not to find a cardigan/ bolero in any brand store. A plethora of examples:

I hope Emma's fashion inspires all of you as it did myself! Lets all work together to incorporate a bit of her stylistic choices in our own wardrobe!

Late Lolitaday Post

I hope its okay to backtrack a couple of days to LolitaDay! I love these pictures too much not to share ^^

A lot of the local NYC lolitas went to extravagant parties for this day (that I really wish I attended >A< the photos I've seen from the meets are amazing!) But my friend Laura of Bearicleちゃん and I decided to have our own fun for the day ^^ (Along with our boyfriends)

We set out to Rose House, a chinese based Tea House right in the middle of Flushing.

What better way to celebrate the day with just the two of us than to twin! :D

Here we are at our table right in front of the "Fireplace"

They have beautiful tea sets!

My Rose Petal Milk Tea ^^

The tower of amazing! Laura's face is priceless here xD!

Another view of the decor

And after, we went out to see some really cute stores!

In our coats!

It was an amazing day with one of my closest friends ! Cant wait to have tea there again :DD
